EDUCATION:
Earned his degree in recreation, sport and tourism with a minor in leadership studies from University of Illinois in 2017. Also earned his master’s degree in education policy, organization, and leadership from Illinois in 2019 (concentration in diversity and equity). Earned his graduate certificate from NC State in Youth Development and Leadership in 2021.

Native of Poplar Grove, Illinois, he played football at North Boone High School.
BOWL EXPERIENCE:
AS A COACH: Illinois: 2014 Heart of Dallas Bowl , 2019 Red Box Bowl.
COACHING EXPERIENCE:
- Spent seven season on the staff at the University of Illinois (2013-2019), starting off as an undergraduate defensive student assistant, then as a defensive graduate assistant working with the defensive backs in 2017 and the linebackers in 2018. Spend the 2019 campaign as a defensive analyst with the Illini, working with the linebackers.
- Worked under three different head coaches: Tim Beckman, Bill Cubit and Lovie Smith.
- Mentored standout linebackers Dele Harding and Jake Hansen. Harding won first-team All-Big Ten honors, leading the league and ranking second nationally in tackles per game (11.8) last season. He ranked second in the Big 10 in interceptions and tallied 153 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss and forced three fumbles in 2019.
- Hansen was a Butkus Award semifinalist, and despite missing the last four games of the season with an injury earned honorable mention All Big-Ten mention. Hansen tallied 72 tackles, 7.5 TFLs, 3.5 sacks, one interception, seven forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries on the season. He led the nation in forced fumbles (7) and ranked fifth in fumbles recovered (3)
- Illinois led the FBS in defensive touchdowns and ranked second in fumbles recovered in 2019, while ranking fourth in fumbles forced and turnovers forced, 12th in turnover margin and 15th in tackles for loss.
