PLAYING EXPERIENCE:
College - A member of two Big Ten championship teams as a running back at Wisconsin from 1996-2000, rushing for 1,064 yards and seven touchdowns in his career. He posted three 100-yard rushing games, including 119 yards in a win over No. 14 Iowa in 1997 as a redshirt freshman. Wisconsin went to five straight bowls during his playing career, including back-to-back Rose Bowls in 1999 and 2000.
EDUCATION: Â
Earned a B.A. in history from Wisconsin in 2000, and a M.A. in adult, higher and community education from Ball State in 2004.
PERSONAL DATA:
Born in Muncie, Indiana on Oct. 20, 1977. He and wife Anissa have three children, Eddie IV, Madison Rose and Xavier.

Coaching HIGHLIGHTS:
At NC State:
- Selected to participate in the 2017 NCAA Champion Forum - one of eight minority coaches nationally chosen for this unique professional development opportunity.
- Coached NC State’s all-time receptions leader Jaylen Samuels, who finished with 202 career catches.Â
- Samuels earned two first-team All-ACC honors during his career: at TE in 2015 and as an all-purpose player in 2017. he finished third in the ACC with 16 touchdowns in 2017, the third-most in a season at NC State.
- Nyheim Hines earned third-team All-ACC honors as a specialist, as he racked up 610 combined yards on punt and kickoff returns.
- Punter A.J. Cole was honorable mention All-ACC after ranking second in the conference with 23 punts landing inside the 20.
- In 2015, NC State was 1 of only 2 schools in the FBS to finish in the Top 20 in both kickoff returns and punt returns.
- The Pack posted the second-best KOR average (25.7) in school history in 2015, while the 13.0 punt return average was the seventh-best mark ever. In 2016, the squad posted the eighth-best KOR average (23.2) in school history.
- Junior Bra’Lon Cherry as a 2015 All-ACC honorable mention performer as a returner. His 13.3 yard punt return average for the season ranks ninth in the NC State record book.
- 2014 special teams included All-ACC punter Wil Baumann and Wolfpack all-time leading scorer PK Nik Sade.
- In 2014, TE David Grinnage was on the ‘watch’ list for the Mackey Award.
At Wisconsin:
- In 2012, helped junior Jacob Pedersen win all-Big Ten honors and the league’s Kwalick-Clark Tight End of the Year award. Pedersen was the team’s second leading receiver and his 14 career TD receptions are tied for 11th all time at UW.Â
At Northern Illinois:Â
- Mentored All-MAC tailback Jasmin Hopkins, who rushed for 956 yards and 15 touchdowns on 187 carries (5.1 avg.).Â
- NIU boasted the nation’s No. 12 rushing attack with an average of 234.1 yards per game.Â
- While also overseeing NIU’s special teams, Faulkner’s punt coverage unit ranked second nationally, yielding just one yard per return. Husky placekicker Mathew Sims was a first-team All-MAC performer while compiling a school-record 124 points (20-28 field goals, 64-66 PATs).Â
At Ball State:
- Served as interim head coach at the end of the 2010 season before his departure to NIU.Â
- While at Ball State, the Cardinals captured two MAC West Division championships and advanced to back-to-back bowl games for the first time in school history.Â
- The 2008 squad went undefeated during the regular season as tailback MiQuale Lewis rushed for a Ball State record 1,736 yards.
