Doug Shearer, who has been a member of the Wolfpack football staff since 2014, is the Wolfpack’s quality control assistant for special teams. He has served in that role since 2015.
Shearer came to NC State as a graduate assistant, working with the wide receivers and specialists. In 2013, he served as an offensive/special teams graduate assistant at his alma mater: the University of Connecticut.
As an undergrad, the Shelton, Ct., native was a student assistant coach under former Wolfpack linebacker and assistant coach Clayton White., working with the special teams in 2011 and 2012.
The 26-year-old earned his B.A. degree in coaching and sports psychology from UConn in 2013. He has coached in four bowl games, all with NC State: the 2014 Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl, the 2015 Belk Bowl, the 2016 Independence Bow, and the 2017 Hyundai Sun Bowl.
