PLAYING EXPERIENCE:
A four-time letter winner at linebacker ( 1999-2002), he was named first-team All-ACC as a senior in 2002. Also the Wolfpack’s co-MVP and a team captain that season. His 24 tackles against Clemson in 2001 is tied as the second most in a game in school history and he ranks second in career tackles with 476. His 41 career tackles-for-loss also rank fourth in school history. Burnette was a standout in the weight room as well, earning the team’s most valuable lifter award in 2001. Team captain on the 2002 Wolfpack squad that earned double-digit wins for the only time in school history and finished the season with a No. 12 final ranking in the AP poll. That season included a Gator Bowl victory over Notre Dame and a win over No. 14 FSU.
EDUCATION:
Earned a degree in sports management with a minor in business management from NC State in 2003. Earned his master’s in higher education and sports management in 2007.
PERSONAL DATA:
Born Dec. 29, 1980 in Warner Robins, Ga. He and his wife Edrina, have four children: Alexis (25), Austin (12) and Aiden (10) and Aubrey (7).
COACHING HIGHLIGHTS:
- A certified member of the NSCA and USA Weightlifting.
- CSCS certified through the National Strength & Conditioning Association, USAW certified through USA Weightlifting, Member of CSCCA, Member of AFCA, First Aid, CPR & AED Certified.
- Has been a member of strength staff that have seen numerous players drafted by the NFL, including first-round picks Garrett Bradbury, Bradley Chubb, Mario Williams, Manny Lawson, John McCargo (NC State) and Aaron Donald (Pitt). Has also helped develop some quality QBs during his tenure as a strength coach in Philip Rivers, Russell Wilson, Mike Glennon, Jacoby Brissett, Ryan Finley and Tom Savage (Pitt).
