HIGH SCHOOL
• Played quarterback at local Cardinal Gibbons High School for coach Steven Wright.
• As a senior: Completed 212-of-327 passes for 3,307 yards and 32 touchdowns. Posted a 64.8% completion percentage and a 121.9 QR rating. Also served as the team’s punter. Helped lead his team to a 12-3 record, including a 5-1 mark in conference action. Cardinal Gibbons reached the NC 4A state championship game.
PERSONAL
• Father, Terry, played QB at NC State from 1991-95. Terry ranks sixth in school history in career passing yards (5,925) and seventh in career passing TDs (38). He posted a 17-12 record as NC State’s starting QB. Terry also played baseball while at NC State. He was a freshman All-American in 1992 and a third team All-American in ‘93. He was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 17th round of the 1995 MLB Draft, and holds school records for most wins (35) and innings pitched (426).
• Grandfather Vance Cockerham also played for NC State in the 1960s.
