Opening Statement
"It feels good to get our second-straight home win and get a lot of guys involved in the run game. (Furman' option) is a difficult offense to defend, but proud of our guys not giving up a touchdown in the second half. We scored 49 points and came out healthy, which is huge plus."
On Shawn Boone's pick six
"Nobody works as hard on ball skills as Shawn does. He's always catching balls and working on that in practice. I was excited for him, and proud of that group forcing three turnovers in the second half. They're finishing really well right now."
On JuMichael Ramos' touchdown
"That was a pretty emotional play on the sideline for all our guys, and great karma for him. He's worked hard and he earned it, so we're proud of him."
Furman head coach Clay Hendrix
Opening Statement
“I think it was a funny game, we were kind of hanging in there in the first half and it was manageable, but we just couldn’t get stops. Then we finally got a stop and we responded. The long return on the kickoff was big and then we missed two wide open touchdowns and we just can’t do that. We kind of self-destructed after that.
“Even after we throw the pick six, we thought it was still manageable at the time. We had the ball at midfield and then didn’t block anybody on the first play. We can’t play a team that talented with as much size and speed as they have without it catching up to you.”
Keys to the Game
“I think the toughest thing for us was our inability to run the ball at them. I knew it would be a challenge, but I hoped we could do a better job of it because if we can’t then they don’t have to honor as much of the other stuff that we do.
“I knew we had to play a near-perfect game, but we were making some plays we just couldn’t make enough of them.”
