NC State Athletics Bag Policy - NC State University Athletics

To provide a safer environment for all guests and in line with similar sporting venues throughout the country, NC State has adopted a clear bag policy for all athletic events.

Note: Men's Basketball games at Lenovo Center are subject to building specific bag policies. Read more from Lenovo Center.

The following items will be permitted into NC State events, but will be inspected at bag check locations prior to entry:

Any clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag no larger than 12" x 6" x 12"
Any clear plastic freezer bag 1 gallon or smaller
Small purses or clutch bags no larger than 6.5" x 4.5" (approximately the size of a hand) with or without a handle or strap can be taken into the stadium in addition to one of the clear plastic bags
Exceptions are typically granted for medically necessary items after proper inspection

Why is NC State adopting a Clear Bag Policy?

Fan safety is paramount to all decisions. Each year, in an effort to improve safety and spectator experience, NC State forms ad hoc committees to review public safety and stadium security policies. This measure will enhance safety both inside and outside of the stadium.

Are other stadiums adopting similar policies?

Yes. Several ACC and NCAA institutions, and all NFL stadiums have adopted similar policies to increase public safety.

How does the new bag policy improve public safety?

A clear bag is easily and quickly searched and greatly reduces faulty bag searches and allows for more efficient and effective process in checking bags that are brought into the stadium.

Can I carry cameras, binoculars, smart phones, or tablets separately from what I put in a clear bag?

Yes. Binoculars, phones, cameras, and tablets can be carried into the stadium so long as it is not in its own bag. This is not a restriction on items that fans have been able to bring into the stadium in the past. It is only a restriction on the type of container used to carry those items.

What happens if I show up at the gate with a bag that is not permitted?

Fans with a prohibited bag will not be permitted inside the stadium and will need to return their bags to their vehicle, or transfer their belongings to an approved clear plastic bag before entering the stadium.

Are there any exceptions for medically necessary items or diaper bags?

Exceptions are typically granted for medically necessary items after proper inspection.

Do I have to put everything I'm carrying into the permissible bags?

The bag policy is limiting only the type of bags carried into the stadium, not the items that you normally bring to a game. Fans can continue to carry items in their pockets such as keys, phones, wallets, etc.
