Career: Through two seasons is on pace to become the program’s all-time leader in blocked shots and have the best field goal percentage in program history … Enters junior season with 147 career blocks which is fourth all-time on the program’s career blocked shot chart … First four blocks of his junior season will move him into third place on career blocked shot list … Career blocked shot leader at NC State is BeeJay Anya (2013-17) with 243 … On pace to shatter program’s career field goal percentage record … For his career, he is 64.7 percent field goal shooter (165-of-255) … Current field goal percentage leader in program history is Kevin Thompson (1990-93) at 58.8 percent … Bates qualifies for the career field goal percentage chart once he makes 200 career field goals.
2020-21 - Sophomore Season: Appeared in 24 games, making 23 starts … Averaged 9.8 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game … Led team in rebounds in blocks … Led ACC in blocks and finished 11th in the NCAA … Had multiple blocked shots in 15 games, including 11 games with three or more blocks … Shot 64.1 percent from the field, hitting 100-of-156 field goal attempts … Field goal percentage was best single-season percentage in program history (minimum 100 made field goals) ...
