Wolfpack Suffers First Loss of the Season

MIAMI, FL - NC State men's soccer suffered its first loss of the season on Thursday night, falling 2-1 to FIU at Leyva Family Field.
FIU opened the scoring in the 21st minute with a goal off a free kick.
The Wolfpack responded quickly five minutes later, as Caden Tolentino converted a penalty kick in the 26th minute to level the match at 1-1.
After entering halftime tied, the Panthers broke through once again in the 75th minute to reclaim the lead and secure the 2-1 victory.
Both teams finished with six shots, while NC State held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks and FIU made two saves in the match.
Oriol Comas, Malcolm Rangon and Tolentino each earned their first starting nod of the season. The starts marked the first appearance in the red and white for Comas and Rangon, while Tolentino made just the fourth start of his NC State career.
UP NEXT
The Wolfpack will remain in Florida and head up the coast to Boca Raton for a match up against Florida Atlantic on Aug. 30 at 7 p.m.
