#23 Men's Tennis Loses to #25 Stanford on the Road

STANFORD, Calif. – 23rd-ranked NC State men's tennis was unable to complete the comeback against 25th-ranked Stanford in Palo Alto Sunday afternoon for its fourth conference loss of the season.
NC State men's tennis collected its third loss in four matches Sunday afternoon after falling to 25th-ranked Stanford who just upset No. 3 Wake Forest the match before. The Pack now holds a 16-5 overall record, with an 8-4 mark in conference action.
A new doubles lineup for the Pack was only able to result in one victory in the first frame of the match. Jules Leroux & William Manning teamed up on court two and ran away with the 7-5 over Stanford's Nico Godsick & Hudson Rivera.
Moving into singles with an extra point to make up for, Cody Benton stepped into the lineup for the red-and-white on court six and quickly moved through his match to find a 6-3 first set win. After Benton took the second set, NC State got on the board for the team scores to then alternate back-and-forth for the rest of the day.
No. 21 Martin Borisiouk fell in straight sets on court one for Stanford to retake the lead at 2-1. A win for No. 54 Rivera over No. 124 Jules Leroux on court three was shortly followed with a win for Charlie Camus on court four.
Darius Pop saved two match points in his second set tiebreaker to force the Cardinal to a third and keep the Pack alive. In the meantime, Manning on court two controlled his third set to push the team score to 3-3, making the team winner determined on court five. Ultimately, Pop was unable to get on top of the set and fell, resulting in a 4-3 clinched match for the home team.
