RALEIGH, N.C. – Freshman Rett Johnson has been named a 2026 Perfect Game Midseason Freshman All-American and is also listed on the 2026 Midseason College Freshman of the Year Watchlist by Baseball America.
A spark plug at both the top and bottom of the lineup this season, Johnson has batted .400/.518/.506 with a home run, six doubles, eight stolen bases, and 21 walks to just seven strikeouts over his first 27 career appearances.
The Youngsville, N. C., native leads the team in batting average and on-base percentage, both of which rank seventh in the ACC. Johnson is the toughest in the conference, averaging 12.1 plate appearances between strikeouts.
In ACC play, Johnson is the only Wolfpack hitter with a batting average above .400 (.464). He also leads the team in runs, hits, doubles, RBIs, walks, and stolen bases, and he has not committed an error in the field.
After missing the first two games in Puerto Rico due to injury, Johnson has started the last 27 games for the Pack in the outfield. He maintains a disciplined approach at the plate and works counts efficiently, averaging four pitches per plate appearance. His 61.3 percent quality at-bat rate is the highest on the team among qualified hitters.
Johnson will look to lead the Pack against Notre Dame in a three-game series beginning on Thursday, April 2nd, at 6 p.m., as the Wolfpack will try to end its seven-game losing streak.
