RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men's basketball team fell to Stanford, 85-84, on Saturday afternoon inside the Lenovo Center to complete the regular season.
Ven-Allen Lubin led the Pack with a double-double, posting 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead NC State in both categories.
Quadir Copeland added 16 points but the ACC's assist leader was held to a season-low two assists in the loss.
Tre Holloman scored 15 points, his most points since he scored 16 in the win over Virginia Tech on Feb. 7.
Matt Able and Paul McNeil, Jr., each added 13 points.
Ebuka Okorie led Stanford with a game-high 33 points.
NC State trailed 37-34 at halftime, but went on a 12-2 run early in the second half to take a 46-41 lead with 17:33 to go.
Stanford responded with a 14-4 run to take a 55-50 lead, but NC State answered the Cardinal spurt with one of its own, going on a quick 8-0 run to take a 58-55 lead with 11:06 to play on an Able three-pointer.
The Cardinal responded again, though, going on a 12-1 run to take an eight point lead and NC State would never catch Stanford the rest of the way.
NC State would get within one possession five times in the final three minutes of the game, but Stanford had an answer every time NC State threatened to tie or take the lead.
The Cardinal shot 62 percent in the second half.
NC State will be a seven-seed in next week's ACC Tournament. The Pack's first game will be Wednesday at noon.
