RALEIGH, N.C. – Tied at three with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, freshman Morgen Talley delivered a single through the right side to drive in the winning run and secure a 4–3 victory for the Wolfpack over Michigan State in Thursday's Marucci Classic opener.

The Pack moves to 15-7 on the season and extended its winning streak to 12 games.

How it Happened

NC State struck first, plating a run in the opening frame as Carly Short crossed the plate to give the Pack an early lead.
Sarah Johnson helped extend the advantage in the second inning, grounding into a double play that allowed Morgen Talley to score.
Michigan State gained momentum in the fifth inning, using a solo home run, walk and fielder's choice to take a 3–2 lead.
Lily Livingston responded in the bottom half of the inning, blasting a two-out, first-pitch home run to even the score at 3–3.
Kendall Simmers sparked the seventh inning with a leadoff single and moved to second when Livingston reached safely on a Spartan error.
Hannah Church followed with a single to right field to load the bases with no outs.
Talley then delivered the walk-off, singling through the right side on the second pitch she saw to drive in Simmers and secure the 4–3 victory.

By the Numbers

Three members of the Pack recorded two hits: Kendall Simmers, Hannah Church and Morgen Talley.
Talley also tossed 4.1 innings in the circle and struck out six.
Wynne Gore entered in relief and threw 2.2 innings, picking up the win to mark her fifth of the season. Her first strikeout of the outing marked the 100th of her career.
Carly Short reached base for the 22nd consecutive game.
The win marked the 70th under head coach Lindsay Leftwich.
