ATLANTA, GA - The Wolfpack opened the first evening of swimming at the 2026 ACC Championships with a set of relay performances, highlighted by a podium finish and a record-breaking lead-off split.
The night began with the Wolfpack women earning a fifth-place finish in the 200 medley relay, touching in 1:33.56. On the men's side, the relay squad was first to the wall in an impressive swim, but an early takeoff on the butterfly exchange resulted in a disqualification.
The Wolfpack women followed with another fifth-place finish in the 800 freestyle relay, posting a time of 6:57.54, the second-fastest mark in program history. The performance trails only the 2025 squad at ACC Championships, which holds the school record in the event.
The men's 800 freestyle relay capped the evening with a silver-medal finish, clocking 6:07.42 to secure the team's first podium appearance of the season. The relay consisted of Kaii Winkler, Jerry Fox, Hudson Williams, and Daniel Diehl.
Leading off the relay, Winkler delivered a historic performance, breaking the school record in the 200 freestyle with a blistering 1:30.92 split, the fastest time in the NCAA this season.
The Wolfpack women's diving team concluded competition on the platform during Tuesday morning prelims. Riley McGrath, Gracie Hurley, and Keann Guthrie each took their final dives of the championship.
Junior Grace Hurley recorded her top finish of the meet, placing 11th in the platform event with a score of 210.45. Keann Guthrie followed with a 26th place finish (174.45), and rounding out the competition for the Wolfpack Riley McGrath finished 29th with a score of 164.90.
The Wolfpack returns Wednesday for its first full day of individual swimming at the 2026 ACC Championships. Events on deck include the 500 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 freestyle, and 200 freestyle.
