RALEIGH, N.C. – After passing for a career-high 373 yards and helping guide the Wolfpack to a 31-28 victory over Louisville, quarterback CJ Bailey has been nationally recognized as one of the eight Manning Stars of the Week, as announced by the AllState Sugar Bowl Monday afternoon.
Bailey was 24-for-40 with two touchdowns and one interception Saturday against the Cardinals. Completing 60% of his passes and posting a 149.8 QB rating, Bailey was especially efficient in the explosive passing game (20+ yards), going 5-for-7 for 147 yards, with both touchdowns coming on explosive passes.
Through five games this season, Bailey is 98-for-150 for 1266 yards and eight touchdown passes, averaging 253.2 yards per game. NC State ranks fifth in the ACC in scoring offense, and Bailey ranks among the top 10 ACC QBs in multiple offensive categories.
Bailey has been named to the Manning Award preseason watch list for the past two seasons, but this is the first time he has been named a Star of the Week by the award. The Wolfpack had not had a Manning Star of the Week since Brennan Armstrong was recognized in 2023.
The Manning Award was created by the AllState Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton, and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes candidates' postseason performances in its balloting. Finalists will be selected before the postseason, and the winner will be announced after the College Football Playoff National Championship.
