
Bryant Marks Season High in Four Set Victory Over South Carolina in Showdown at the Net Matchup

RALEIGH, N.C. – senior outside hitter Courtney Bryant tallied a season high 16 kills with a .310 hitting percentage to lead the Wolfpack to a 3-1 victory over South Carolina Wednesday evening in Reynolds Coliseum.
The Wolfpack moves to 5-1 on the season and the win marks the first over an SEC opponent since 2021 when NC State defeated Georgia, 3-1.

The Wolfpack remains in Raleigh for the Wolfpack Invitational as it hosts Cleveland State and Coastal Carolina starting on Saturday, September 13. The Pack will face the Vikings at 5pm on ACCNX.
The Wolfpack moves to 5-1 on the season and the win marks the first over an SEC opponent since 2021 when NC State defeated Georgia, 3-1.

- The Wolfpack came out of the gates hot, going on a 6-1 scoring run to force an early South Carolina timeout. From then on, it was a close battle between the two programs, with neither team leading by more than one point until a kill by Nia Hall pushed the Gamecocks lead to two, 18-16.
- South Carolina took the first set, 25-18, despite late attempts by the Wolfpack to minimize the deficit.
- The second set was similar to the first as the two teams kept it close. After two attacking errors by the Gamecocks and a service ace from junior outside Clara Vondran, the Wolfpack took set two, 25-22.
- The Pack went on several scoring runs in the third set to force early timeouts from South Carolina. NC State went on a 10-4 scoring run to close out the third set on top, 25-17, after hitting .387 in the third.
- Kills by Bryant and middle blocker Lily Cropper started the fourth set with the Wolfpack on top, 2-0. South Carolina made several attempts to slow NC State, but the Wolfpack continued to dominate.
- South Carolina served on match point and Bryant tallied the final kill of the evening for the Pack, her 16th, to close out the fourth set with NC State on top, 25-17.
- The squad hit .342 in the fourth to finish the match with an overall hitting percentage of .232.
- Bryant tallied her first double-double of the season after finishing with 16 kills and 11 digs. Freshman opposite Jordan Smith added eight kills to the box score, while Cropper and freshman Rebecca Ring each tallied seven.
- Cropper, Vondran, and Francom each recorded three blocks to help lead the Pack defensively at the net. Libero Zuzia Maciejewicz tallied 21 digs to help the defensive efforts.
- The win marks the fifth of the season, fifth under head coach Megan Wargo-Kearney, the 821st in program history, and 15th overall over the Gamecocks.
