PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Chloe Negrete has been named the 2025 Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association Southeast Gymnast of the Year, the association announced Wednesday, April 9.
The WCGA Regional Gymnast of the Year award is given to the gymnast who has demonstrated "remarkable success and leadership throughout the season." Voted on by head coaches within each region, these athletes represent the highest level of competitive excellence and sportsmanship.
"These awards are a meaningful reflection of the dedication, innovation, and passion that define collegiate gymnastics," said Casey Jo MacPherson, chair of the WCGA Board of Directors. "We are thrilled to honor this year's recipients and celebrate the impact they've had on their teams, institutions, and the broader gymnastics community."
This marks the third time an NC State gymnast has received this honor, following Emily Shepard's recognition in 2024.
Negrete capped off her final year with the Wolfpack at the Tuscaloosa Regional, where she scored a 9.900 on beam.
In addition to her performance at Regionals, the 2025 season saw Negrete solidify her legacy at NC State with 24 podium finishes, including 13 individual victories. She posted 13 scores of 9.900 or higher, including a career-high 9.975 on beam (twice in 2025), a season-best 9.975 on floor against No. 23 Ohio State, and a career-best 9.900 on vault at the George Washington quad meet. That vault earned her Week 10 Gymnast of the Week honors. Negrete was also named ACC Specialist of the Week four times this season (Weeks 2, 4, 7, and 11), making her the only gymnast in the ACC to receive the honor four times in 2025.
Negrete holds NC State's highest scores of the season on both beam and floor and is tied for first in the conference on beam and sixth on floor. Her impressive efforts have earned her a spot on the 2025 All-ACC Gymnastics Team (beam and floor) for the second consecutive year.
