Fritton Named to Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List

CARY, N.C. – NC State pitcher Dominic Fritton was named to USA Baseball's Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List, as announced by the organization on Thursday afternoon. The Golden Spikes Award is awarded annually to the top amateur baseball player in the country.
Fritton, a junior from Fuquay-Varina, N.C., is one of just 45 student-athletes and 12 from the ACC featured on this year's Midseason Watch List.
Fritton is 4-2 on the season with a 2.16 ERA. In 41.2 innings pitched, he leads NC State with 59 strikeouts, and opposing batters have an average of .215. In the ACC, Fritton is second in innings pitched and has struck out the third most batters and his earned run average puts him sixth in the conference.
Fan voting will again play a part in the Golden Spikes Award in 2025. Following the semifinalist announcement on May 18, baseball fans can vote for their favorite players on GoldenSpikesAward.com to help determine the finalists and winner. The 2025 Golden Spikes Award winner will be announced in late June in conjunction with the end of the amateur baseball season.
