In a 6-6 game, Nance tossed five perfect innings in relief against California to help NC State win its fifth ACC series of the season and earn his team-leading sixth win of the season. Nance came on in the bottom of the fifth inning and retired all 15 batters he faced in order on just 62 pitches. Of those 15 retired, he struck out seven, including striking out six in a row across the seventh and eighth innings after the Wolfpack had taken a one-run lead in the top of the seventh. Nance now holds a .295 ERA and is eighth in the ACC. He has allowed just one hit with no walks and 12 strikeouts in his last 10 innings pitched.
NC State will go for its first season sweep of the Pirates since 2022; the Wolfpack is 24-9 over ECU at the Doak since 1990.
Coming into Tuesday, NC State is on a four-game winning streak and is 18-6 at home this season. The sweep of Cal was the first ACC road sweep since 2021, when the Wolfpack swept No. 16 Pitt.
