Pack Falls in Series Finale After Walk-Off Homer by UNC

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Wolfpack softball team fell in the bottom of the seventh inning after a walk-off homer from the leadoff batter allowed the Tar Heels win, 5-4, and take the series 2-1.
The Tar Heels struck first after posting two on the board in the bottom of the second after a single allowed two to score.
NC State responded in the top of the third with a grand slam courtesy of junior Hannah Church, to mark her second of the season. She is just the third person in program history to record two grand slams in the same season, joining Caitlin Dent and Scout Albertson who both hit two during the 2013 campaign.
UNC tied it up four-all after a walk in the third and fielder's choice in the fourth allowed runners to score.
Tori Ensley, Taylor Ensley, Hannah Church, Kendall Simmers, MaKayla Marbury and Taryn Massey all recorded one hit in the series finale.
Wynne Gore and Rylee Wyman each picked up a pair of strikeouts while in the circle.
The Wolfpack falls to 23-25 on the season and 5-16 in conference play.
The Pack will head to Greenville for its second meeting with East Carolina on Tuesday, April 22. First pitch is set for 6pm on ESPN+.
