Zyryanvova Named ACC Player of The Week

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Atlantic Coast Conference announced Tuesday afternoon its recipients for its weekly honors recognizing NC States Anna Zyryanova as this week's ACC Player of the Week. This marks Zyryanova's first ACC honor of the season.
Zyryanova capped off the regular season with an impressive 12-6 overall record, including an 7-1 mark in ACC play. She currently leads the Wolfpack with the fewest conference losses, facing just one defeat throughout the season.
This past weekend, Zyryanova stepped up to the No. 1 singles position, facing off against a pair of top-50 opponents. In a dominant performance, she went head to head against No. 39 Mao Mushika of California posting a 2-6, 6-4, 6-5 lead before the match was abandoned. The highlight of the weekend came after she handed No. 10-ranked Connie Ma of Stanford her first singles loss of the year with a 6-1, 6-3 victory. This win was significant for Zyryanova, as it marked her first victory over a top-10 opponent this season. She now holds a 1-0 record against top-10 players, 2-0 against top-25 opponents, and 2-2 against top-50 players.
Looking ahead, Zyryanova and the No. 3-seeded Wolfpack will compete in the Quarterfinals of the ACC Championships this Friday at 12:30 PM at Cary Tennis Park.
