
Pack Falls Late to Miami

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Miami ended the game on a 10-0 run to beat NC State, 72-70, Saturday afternoon at the Watsco Center.
NC State led for 35:42 of game action and the Hurricanes led for only 36 seconds, but the Pack could not hold on late for the win.
Miami's Brandon Johnson slammed home a putback with one second remaining to give Miami the win.
The 72-70 advantage was Miami's first lead since it was 2-1 in the first two minutes of the game.
Dontrez Styled led the Pack with a season-high tying 24 points. Paul McNeil, Jr., chipped in 14 points and Brandon-Huntley-Hatfield finished with 10.
Miami was led by Matthew Cleveland who scored a game-high 32 points.
After Miami scored the first basket of the game, the Pack went on a 10-0 run to open up a 10-2 lead. NC State stayed in front the rest of the half, eventually heading into halftime with a 41-31 lead.
Styles made a three-pointer on the Pack's first possession of the second half to push NC State's advantage to 13.
Miami cut its deficit to four, 56-52, with 9:19 to play, but NC State responded with an 8-3 run to take a 64-55 lead with 6:32 to play.
The Pack's advantage was still eight, 70-62, with 3:41 to play after a McNeil basket, but NC State would not score again.
The Hurricanes closed the game with a 22-8 advantage in fast break points and outscored the Pack, 32-12, in points in the paint.
Saturday's game marked the final game of the Pack's 2024-25 season. NC State finishes the season with a 12-19 record.
