
Wolfpack Defeat Georgia Tech 4-3 At Home

RALEIGH, NC – In a Sunday conference matchup in Ralegh, the No. 11 NC State Wolfpack women's tennis team were determined to keep its home winning streak alive coming out on top over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 4-3, at the J.W. Isenhower Tennis Center Sunday, Mar, 30.
Fresh off a dominant 4-0 sweep over No. 30 Clemson, the Wolfpack were eager to notch their 11th home win of the season. Kristina Paskauskas and Michaela Laki got things rolling with a commanding 6-1 victory on court three, overpowering Georgia Tech's Kate Sharabura and Taly Licht on court 3. Following suit, the No. 2 pairing of Gabriella Broadfoot and Maddy Zampardo delivered another strong performance, cruising to a 6-2 win over Scarlett Nicholson and Kylie Blichev. This win marked the duo's 31st victory of the season and extended their impressive dual-match record to 14-2. On court two, Jasmine Conway and Anna Zyryanova battled No. 62 Alejandra Cruz and Given Roach, ultimately sealing the doubles point for the Wolfpack.
With a 1-0 lead heading into singles, the Pack faced some tough competition ahead. Junior Anna Zyryanova continued her strong form, picking up another ranked win as she defeated No. 97 Alejandra Cruz, putting NC State on the scoreboard at 2-0.
Georgia Tech quickly responded, with Taly Licht leveling the match after outlasting Kristina Paskauskas in a tightly contested 7-6 (7-3) tiebreaker. On court one, No. 27 Laki was also defeated, bringing the match to a 2-2 tie.
It was then freshman No. 121 Mia Slama's turn to shine. After trailing 1-4 in the first set, Slama made a remarkable comeback to win it 7-5. She continued her dominant play in the second set, securing a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Olivia Carneiro on court six. Despite this, Georgia Tech quickly leveled the match again with a hard-fought win on court three, taking the match to a decisive third set and eventually winning 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 over No. 99 Maddy Zampardo.
With the outcome hanging in the balance, all eyes turned to Gabriella Broadfoot on court four. After winning the first set, Broadfoot fought through a tough second set, which was claimed by her opponent, Given Roach. Broadfoot kept her focus into the third set and clinched the match with a decisive 6-1 win in the final set, securing the 4-3 victory for the Wolfpack.
Looking ahead, NC State will travel to Florida to face Florida State on Friday, April 4, at 4:00 PM, followed by a matchup with Miami on Sunday, April 6, at noon.
