#5 Pack Men’s Tennis Guts Out Road Win Over Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Fifth-ranked NC State men's tennis came through with a hard-fought 4-3 win over No. 61 Notre Dame Sunday afternoon in South Bend.
The top-ranked doubles duo for the Pack, Braden Shick and Fons Van Sambeek, took care of business on court one to give an advantage to the red-and-white. Freshman Nikolay Nedelchev stepped into the doubles lineup with William Manning on court three but fell in a tiebreaker to even out the doubles score. The other ranked duo, Jules Leroux and Luca Staeheli, got it done for the Pack when they fought through a tiebreaker to claim the vital doubles point.
Moving into singles with the 1-0 lead, Van Sambeek cruised through his match on court four in two sets to put NC State up 2-0.
The scoreboard seesawed back and forth throughout the next several singles outcomes as Shick fell to 33rd-ranked Sebastian Dominko on court one to make it 2-1. Top-ranked Martin Borisiouk put the Wolfpack in clinching distance when he finished next in two sets to make the scoreboard 3-1.
However, losses on courts three and six evened out the scoreboard at 3-3, threatening a potential loss to NC State for the first time in over a month. Ultimately, redshirt-freshman Jules Leroux was able to provide the final win that his team needed to improve its win streak to nine and keep its conference record unblemished.

NC State continues its road stretch next weekend at Georgia Tech on Friday at 5 p.m. and No. 16 Clemson on Sunday at 12 p.m.
