The Pack extended its lead to 16 with a Zoe Brooks and-1 and a Devyn Quigley triple, and the Pack led 29-13 after the first. NC State shot 55 percent (12-of-22) from the field in the quarter.
Pierre came up with the first basket in the second quarter, which was the first of three straight baskets for the Pack. Two Lunan free throws extended the lead to 31, until Miami knocked down a triple just before the half. NC State led 48-20 at the half.
After NC State made the first basket of the second half off a Pierre jumper, Miami went on a 5-0 run. The Canes started to get going in the post, but NC State matched it with a 6-0 run and Pierre had eight of the Pack's 12 points in the first 5.5 minutes of the quarter. With 4:16 left in the third, NC State led 60-31. Out of the timeout, Miami made two straight baskets, but Tilda Trygger responded with a triple. Lunan beat the buzzer with a coast-to-coast layup and after outscoring Miami 21-19 in the third, the Pack took a 69-39 lead going into the fourth.
The Pack did not take its foot off the gas, outscoring the Canes 13-8 in the first five minutes of the quarter and taking its lead to 35 points off a Qadence Samuels layup. Miami finished the game on a 14-3 run but the Pack cruised to an 87-61 win to kick off ACC play.
