Pierre Tabbed to Wade Trophy Watchlist

RALEIGH – Khamil Pierre has been tabbed to the Wade Watchlist, as announced by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association on Wednesday. Pierre is one of just 15 in the country tabbed on the list for the award given to the best women's college basketball player in the country.
This is the first time Pierre has landed on the Wade watchlist. NC State has had a finalist for the Wade Trophy Award seven different times with the last being Chasity Melvin in 1998.
Pierre was tabbed to the 10-person All-ACC Preseason Team, Katrina McClain Power Forward of the Year Preseason Top 20 Watchlist and the Jersey Mike's Naismith Player of the Year Watchlist prior to the season. The Phoenix, Arizona native is ranked No. 22 on the ESPN's list of the top women's college basketball players.
She is coming off her Wolfpack debut being named the Ro Greensboro Invitational Most Outstanding Player after delivering 21 points, 14 rebounds and three steals in the Pack's 80-77 win over No. 8 Tennessee.
Pierre's sophomore season at Vanderbilt was special, having averaged a career-best 20.4 points per game off 49.8 percent shooting from the field with 9.6 rebounds and 2.9 steals per game. She ranked first in the SEC in field goals made, as well as second in steals per game, third in rebounds per game and and fourth in scoring. She broke a single-game scoring record for the Commodores with 42 points along with 18 rebounds and eight steals against Evansville. Last season, she was a WBCA All-America Honorable Mention choice and one of five finalists for the Cheryl Miller Small Forward of the Year.
In her unofficial Wolfpack debuts, Pierre registered eight points, eight rebounds and two steals against High Point and 16 points and six rebounds vs. No. 10 Maryland.

NC State will stay on the road to play another neutral site ranked game, this time against No. 18 USC at the Ally Tipoff played in the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. That game will tipoff at 3 p.m. on ESPN. Tickets for the game can be purchased HERE.
