RALEIGH – NC State men's soccer is headed to its first NCAA Quarterfinal since 1992 as a result of a commanding 2-0 win over UNC Greensboro Sunday night at Dail Soccer Stadium.

For the first time since 1992, NC State men's soccer has reached the NCAA Quarterfinal with just eight teams remaining in the tournament. This comes as no surprise after the team was able to reach the Sweet 16 this time last year in its first season with head coach Marc Hubbard at the helm. This also marks Hubbard's first time visiting the round of just eight teams at the Division I level.

After securing a first-round bye, back-to-back 2-0 wins over both Marshall and UNC Greensboro each at Dail Soccer Stadium in Raleigh mark the 14th and 15th shutouts by the Pack this season.

NC State remains as the lone representative of the Atlantic Coast Conference in the national tournament.

This win also records as the 14th this season, the last time the program was able to have 14 wins in a season was the 1994 season.

Taig Healy quickly got the game started with a goal in the sixth minute, allowing NC State to play with confidence throughout the remainder of the game.

A breakaway by the Spartans in the 62nd minute appeared to be an automatic goal with Logan Erb out of the net, but freshman Riley Moloney was able to track the ball down and use his body to block the shot, providing a crucial save to keep UNCG off the board.

Donavan Phillip tallied his 17th goal of the season in the 79th minute, making him the program's highest scorer since Roy Lassiter in 1991. Since joining the red-and-white, Phillip has now scored once in every NCAA match that the Pack has won in the last two years.

The Wolfpack is set to travel to Georgetown to compete against the Hoyas on Friday, December 5 at 6 p.m. These two teams met last season in Washington in the NCAA Second Round, which resulted in a 2-0 victory for the Pack.
