RALEIGH, N.C. – The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced Wednesday that senior forward Darrion Williams is one of 20 watch-list candidates for the 2026 Julius Erving Award.
The annual Julius Erving Award, named after the Class of 1993 Hall of Famer and 17-year professional
basketball player, celebrates its 12th year by recognizing the top small forwards in Division I men's
college basketball.
It's another addition to a host of preseason accolades that Williams has received this offseason. He's previously been named ACC Preseason Player of the Year and has been on a number of preseason All-American teams, including a Second-Team nod on The Athletic Preseason All-American team.
Williams joined the Pack after spending the last two seasons at Texas Tech. Last year with the Red Raiders, he averaged 15.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.3 steals per game and was named to the All-Big 12 First Team. He upped his scoring to 21 points per game in Texas Tech's four NCAA Tournament games, scoring 23 points in the Elite Eight against eventual National Champion Florida and a season-high 28 points in the win over Drake in the second round.
