RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State volleyball team fell to Georgia Tech in straight sets Sunday afternoon in Reynolds Coliseum.
The loss moves NC State to 10-8 on the season and 3-5 in Atlantic Coast Conference play.
The Wolfpack struggled from the beginning as the Yellow Jackets took a 6-1 lead to begin the first set, forcing head coach Megan Wargo-Kearney to use an early timeout.
The Pack attempted to minimize the deficit, but Georgia Tech took the first set, 25-18. Middle blocker Lily Cropper led the Pack with three kills in the opening set.
The Yellow Jackets never led by more than five points prior to the media timeout (15-10), as the Wolfpack kept the frame close. The Pack continued to battle but the Yellow Jackets were too powerful and took the second set, 25-19.
Wargo-Kearney switched things up lineup wise in the third set and the Pack managed to keep the Yellow Jackets within reach. After Georgia Tech increased its lead to six (15-9), the Pack went on a 3-1 scoring run to force a Yellow Jacket timeout.
Georgia Tech closed out the final frame on a 9-5 scoring run to take the set, 25-17.
