Knight, Thomas Earn First ACC Weekly Honors of 2025 Season

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Ashley Knight has been named ACC Specialist of the Week, while teammate Syniya Thomas earned ACC Newcomer of the Week honors, the league announced today.
Knight and Thomas played pivotal roles in NC State's victory over No. 34 Towson on Saturday. The Wolfpack's season-opening score of 195.825 marked the highest-scoring opener in program history, defeating Towson, which scored 194.425.
Ashley Knight began the 2025 season in strong form, capturing the vault title with a 9.850. She also debuted her floor routine, tying for third alongside teammate Meg Adler with a score of 9.825. Knight's recognition marks the second consecutive season that an NC State gymnast has received the Specialist of the Week award in Week 1, following Chloe Negrete's honor in 2024.
Syniya Thomas delivered a standout debut performance, scoring 9.800 or higher in every event in her first meet as a member of the Wolfpack. She finished second on vault (9.825), third on beam (9.800), and tied teammate Chloe Negrete for first on floor with a 9.850.
