Wolfpack Fall 4-1 to Buckeyes

KNOXVILLE, TN- Friday afternoon, the No. 10 Wolfpack kicked off its competition at the ITA Kickoff Weekend, hosted by Tennessee from January 24-25. In their opening match, they squared off against No. 15 Ohio State but fell 4-1.
In doubles play, the Buckeyes got a lead over Michaela Laki and Kristina Paskaus 6-1. No. 5 Maddy Zampardo and Gabriella Broadfoot extended their winning streak with a commanding 6-1 victory over Sydni Ratliff & Dani Schoenly of Ohio State to straighten things out. Meanwhile, Mia Slama and Anna Zyranova put up a strong fight against Teah Chavez & Luciana Perry but fell 6-4.
After losing the doubles point, the Wolfpack entered singles play with the Buckeyes gaining momentum. Maddy Zampardo responded first for NC State, defeating Sydni Ratliff 6-2, 6-3 to put the Pack on the board. However, Ohio State quickly regained control, clinching the singles point with wins on courts one, three, and six to secure the overall win. Matches on courts two and five were abandoned
The Wolfpack will return to action tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. for a consolation match, where they will face the winner of the Texas Tech vs. Tennessee showdown.
