
NC State Falls 1-0 to Louisville

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Louisville in Sunday afternoon's road match.
ÂBoth teams struggled to find chances in the first half, with neither side registering a shot on goal. Louisville led 2-1 in shots and held a slight possession advantage at 53%-47%.Â
ÂThis marks the fifth consecutive game in which NC State has kept its opponent scoreless in the first half.
ÂEarly in the second half, Louisville capitalized on their third straight corner kick. Mackenzie Geigle headed the ball into the net, putting the Cardinals on the board.
ÂThe Wolfpack tried to respond, creating a promising chance in the 62nd minute. Abi Hugh delivered corner kick, which found Jade Bordeleau in the box, but her shot was saved by Louisville goalkeeper Kailey Kimball.
ÂAnika Whoner had a breakaway opportunity in the 68th minute, but her shot was also stopped by Kimball in the box.
ÂNC State returns home for a matchup against Boston College on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.
