Three Reach Main Draw at ITA All-American

Cary, N.C. - The NC State women's tennis team will be well represented in the main draw of the ITA All-American, which begins on Wednesday, Sept. 25. Gabia Paskauskas has won five matches in singles through pre-qualifying and qualifying rounds, while Maddy Zampardo and Gabriella Broadfoot have reached the main draw in doubles.
After getting past the pre-qualifying round, Gabia Paskauskas kept the momentum rolling with a win over Cal's Lan Mi (6-3, 2-6, 6-1) on Monday. She then came up on top in a hard-fought three-set match with Florida's Alicia Dudeney (6-7 [7], 7-5, 7-5). Gabia Paskauskas is one of five in the field to advance from pre-qualifying to main draw and is the second Pack women's tennis player to advance through both (following Sophie Abrams, who did so last fall).
Broadfoot won her first match of qualifying, 6-4, 6-4, vs. Gracie Mulville of Kansas. She then lost a hard-fought match to UCLA's Kate Fakih (5-7, 6-4, 6-4). Zampardo fell in her qualifying match to Valencia Xu of Stanford (6-3, 3-6, 6-2), but bounced back in her consolation match against UCF's Jantje Tilbuerger with a 7-6 (7), 6-1 victory.
In doubles, Broadfoot and Zampardo have delivered straight set victories to qualify for the main draw. The tandem defeated Malak El Allami and Fatima Keita of Columbia, 6-2, 6-3 and Carrie Beckman and Bojana Pozder of Notre Dame, 7-6 (7), 6-3. This marks Broadfoot's first main draw appearance, while this is Zampardo's second after qualifying last season.
The ITA All-American Championships are the first of four qualifiers for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships, which will take place from Nov. 19-24 in Waco, Texas. The NCAA DI Competition Oversight Committee approved a two-year pilot program to hold the event in the fall for 2024 and 2025. At the ITA All-American Championships, 10 singles players (eight main draw quarterfinalists and two feed-in consolation finalists) and four doubles teams (four main draw semifinalists) will earn automatic berths to Waco in November.
