Brett Gardner Kicks Off the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 3000 M Steeple

EUGENE, Or. – Day one of the NCAA Outdoor Championships began for the Wolfpack with senior Brett Gardner running in the 3000 M Steeple and finishing 15th from Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
After punching his ticket in Lexington, Ky., with a time of 8:39.19, Gardner finished eighth in the first heat of the event with an improved time of 8:37.77. With his finish in 15th, Gardner takes home Second Team All-American honors.
Gardner had the 11th fastest time in the event after recording a season and personal best of 8:31.38 earlier in the season, and lead the heat after the second lap with a split time of 1:08.92
Tomorrow, the Wolfpack's Day Two of the NCAA Outdoor Championships continues, with Sam Bush, Grace Hartman, Angelina Napoleon, and Amaris Tyynismaa all in action.
