Five from Pack Softball Earn NFCA All-Academic Honors

RALEIGH, N.C. – Five members of the NC State softball team earned All-Academic honors as tabbed by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Taylor Ensley, Tori Ensley, Kayla Fekel, Raylee Leiman and Carly Maxtom all earned the honor.
The award is given to student-athletes of member schools who have a 3.5 GPA or higher. The NFCA will publish its own release in the fall with individual scholar-athletes as well as the top 10 academic teams in each division.
Taylor Ensley started all 53 games in right field for the Pack and led the team with 11 doubles. She finished her junior season with a .333 batting average and a .972 fielding percentage with five assists. She also earned CSC Academic All-District honors at the conclusion of the season.
Tori Ensley started 50 games in left field and was the only freshman to start in the outfield this season. She finished the season with a .268 batting average, 33 hits, 22 runs, 13 RBIs, three doubles and one triple. She completed the season with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage after tallying 76 putouts and three assists.
Fekel finished her first season with the Pack with 15 appearances in the circle and ended the year with a 3-0 record. She recorded a complete game against UAlbany in February and tallied a career high four strikeouts.
Leiman appeared in 13 games and made five starts for the Pack throughout the season. In 12 at bats, she recorded five walks and went 2-for-2 on stolen bases.
Maxton made 11 appearances and four starts in the circle. She finished her freshman campaign with a 1-2 record and recorded a career high four strikeouts against Presbyterian.
