STILLWATER, Okla. – For the third time in four seasons, the Wolfpack will have a player reach the quarterfinals of the NCAA Singles Championship as senior Amelia Rajecki advanced into the final eight for the second season in a row.
On Wednesday afternoon, the No. 2 ranked Rajecki beat No. 17 Irina Cantos Siemers in straight sets 7-6 (5) 6-2 from the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Okla.
After an hour and 50-minute match, Rajecki joined doubles partner Maddy Zampardo for their doubles match against Tennesse pair and 11th-ranked Sofia Cabezas and Elza Tomase. The 12th ranked freshman-senior duo took the first set and battled but ultimately dropped the second set 1-6, and a back-and-forth tiebreak went the Volunteers' way 11-9 as the Wolfpack's doubles season came to an end.
Rajacki will now play No. 16 Dasha Vidmanova of the University of Georgia on Thursday, May 23, with a time to be determined.
The Nottingham, England native continues a stellar season that has seen her win 36 matches and move up to third place in program history in singles career wins. She is only one of three Wolfpack players to win over 100 career singles and doubles matches.
