
Braden Shick and Jakub Katuch Recognized In ACC Weekly Honors

RALEIGH, NC. - NC State men's tennis took home a pair of ACC weekly honors Tuesday afternoon as Junior Braden Shick, and Freshman Jakub Katuch were both recognized as ACC Player, and Freshman of the week.Â
ÂKatuch joined the Wolfpack back in January making his college debut against Notre Dame Mar. 22. Katuch has made an appearance in the singles lineup since the Pack's match against the Fighting Irish, proving to be a competitive opponent on the court. Katuch's overall record is 2-0 receiving both wins this week against both Miami and No. 16 Florida State. Katuch was responsible for the match tying win against Florida State Sunday, April 7 helping lead the Pack to victory 4-3 against the Seminoles.
ÂJunior Braden Shick has been a dominant play-maker throughout the season in both doubles and singles play. Shick currently holds an overall record of 14-2 and 8-1 in ACC play. Shick has been honored as the first NC State men's tennis athlete to be recognized as player of the week so far this season.
ÂLast weekend Shick went 2-0 in singles play collecting a back to back set victory over Florida State. Shick carries a three match win streak into this week. Alongside partner Fons Van Sambeek, Shick serves up success in doubles play as well, with the pair raking up a 7-1 record in conference play.Â
ÂIn the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Rankings released this evening Shick currently makes an appearance at the No. 61 spot in ITA Singles rankings.Â
ÂThis upcoming weekend the Pack will host both North Carolina Friday, April 12 at 5:30 PM, and Duke Sunday, April 14 at noon.Â
