
No. 12 Women’s Tennis Beats Clemson 6-1

CLEMSON, SC— The Wolfpack concluded the regular season in the win column with a 6-1 victory over Clemson Sunday afternoon at the Duckworth Tennis Facility.
The 12th ranked team in the nation added another conference win, moving to 19-7 on the season and 9-4 in ACC play.
The senior and freshman doubles pairing of No. 10 Amelia Rajecki and Maddy Zampardo set the tone with a 6-1 victory on court one to start the day. They were followed by the other ranked doubles team for NC State, Sophie Abrams and Anna Zyryanova, who won 7-5 to clinch the doubles point and put the Pack ahead.
Play on court three with Abigail Rencheli and Gabriella Broadfoot was neck and neck throughout the match but was halted at a 6-6 score once the doubles point was secured.
The Wolfpack maintained a firm grip on the match, securing straight-set victories on courts one, three, and four.
First, No. 53 Zyryanova didn't drop a game in her match against Daniella Medvedeva, winning 6-0, 6-0 to finish first.
The straight-set victories continued as No. 5 Rajecki followed on court one, winning 6-3, 6-1 for her 10th conference win this season.
The match was clinched on court four as Maddy Zampardo had her own straight-set victory, winning 6-2, 6-2 over Jenna Thompson.
Up 4-0, play continued with Clemson's only victory on court five after Gina Dittmann fell in three sets.
NC State saw their own three-set victories on courts two and six as No. 69 Abrams and Rencheli finished within minutes of one another to seal the 6-1 victory. Both dropped their second sets but bounced back nicely in the third set. Abrams won a back-and-forth tiebreak 11-9 to take home her third straight win, while Rencheli won the race to 10 points, winning 10-8 in her third set.
With the regular season wrapped up, the Wolfpack now turns its attention to the ACC tournament, where they try and defend their title from April 17-21 at the Carry Tennis Park.
