ATLANTA – NC State women's basketball guards Aziaha James and Saniya Rivers have both been named regional finalists for the 2024 Women's Basketball Coaches' Association (WBCA) All-America Team, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
Both players were previously named to the First Team All-ACC and the All-ACC Tournament Team, and Rivers has already been announced as an AP All-America Honorable Mention. James and Rivers have each posted a 33-point game in 2023-24 to tie for the single-game scoring lead on this year's squad.
James leads NC State in scoring with an average of 16.0 points, and she also leads the team in three pointers made with 62 (1.8 per game) on the year. The junior's scoring average ranks top 15 in the Wolfpack's single-season records, as she's posted 28 10+ point games, nine 20+ point games and a pair of 30+ point outings.
Rivers is averaging 12.7 points and 6.3 rebounds while leading the team in assists (3.8) and steals (2.3) per game this season. Those latter two averages both rank in the top 10 among ACC players. She has 21 games this year with 10 or more points, with 14 of those coming in league action, and her 72 total steals this season ranks 11th on the program's single-season record list.
The 2024 WBCA Coaches' All-America Team will be announced on Friday, April 4. The committee will choose 10 players from the list of 52 regional finalists.
