16th-Ranked NC State Gymnastics Selected to Ann Arbor Regional

RALEIGH, N.C. – No. 16 NC State gymnastics received a NCAA Championship bid for the 33rd time in program history and the sixth-straight tournament on Monday afternoon, with the Wolfpack set to travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., for its second-round quad against top-ranked Oklahoma, Ohio State and the winner of a play-in meet between Illinois and Ball State.
The Pack will compete on Thursday, Apr. 4, with the play-in between the Fighting Illini and Cardinals set for Apr. 3.
NC State enters next Thursday's matchup fresh off an ACC Championship victory, as the Wolfpack fired its highest road score and best postseason score in program history at 197.550.
The Pack took home the ACC title over Clemson, North Carolina and Pitt, with the Tigers closing the evening in second place at 196.425 alongside the Tar Heels and Panthers matching one another at 196.300. The night saw a trio of NC State gymnast become ACC Champions as individuals as well, with freshman Ashley Knight taking the vault crown at 9.900 on top of Chloe Negrete winning the beam (9.950) and floor (9.975) titles while Emily Shepard was the league's top all-arounder at 39.500.
On top of their championship honors, Negrete was named the inaugural ACC Specialist of the Year while Shepard was the league's first ACC Gymnast of the Year.
NC State faced Oklahoma, Ohio State and Ball State during its last postseason run in 2023, as the Pack faced the Cardinals in a play-in meet while competing against the eventual National Champion Sooners and Buckeyes in the second round.
The Wolfpack opened the 2023 NCAA Championship with a 196.075-195.375 win over Ball State, extending its streak of 196+ scores to seven-straight meets, a previous program record.
NC State's season later ended in the second round, with the Pack firing a 195.375 in a quad meet against Arkansas, Ohio State and host Oklahoma.
