SYRACUSE, NY. - NC State had a 3-0 match lead but could not secure the fourth and final point needed for victory, as Syracuse overcame the deficit to win 4-3 Friday afternoon.
The Wolfpack had little trouble securing the doubles point as No. 9 Anna Zyryanova and Sophie Abrams won handily, not dropping a game-winning 6-0. On court three, Gabriella Broadfoot and Abigail Rencheli followed with a 6-3 win.
With the doubles point secured, the Wolfpack quickly jumped to a three-point advantage as Maddy Zampardo and Gina Dittmann won in straight sets. Three of the four wins for Syracuse wins came in the third set. After Anna Zyryanove won her first set, Anastasia Sysoeva won back-to-back sets, holding off Zyraynova 2-6, 6-4, 6-4. Abrams came back to even her match with a 6-4 victory in set two but couldn't repeat it in the third set.
No. 3 Amelia Rajecki saw both her sets go to 6-6, but she dropped both tiebreakers 7-6 (7-4) and 7-6 (7-4). It came down to court two, with Rencheli forcing a third set with a 7-6 (7-1) win in set two, but after going down two sets, she couldn't complete the comeback.
