Shepard Wins Fifth-Straight Gymnast of the Week Award

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Emily Shepard was named ACC Gymnast of the Week for a fifth-consecutive week on Monday afternoon as announced by the conference office.
Shepard claimed her fifth all-around crown of the season on Sunday evening as NC State completed a 6-0 regular season record in its ACC slate with a 196.850-195.200 victory over Pitt.
The fifth-year senior fired a four-event total of 39.500, highlighted by a first-place finish on bars with a 9.950. Shepard additionally finished on the podium on vault and floor, landing in solo second place on vault at 9.850 and ending the day in a four-way tie for second on floor at 9.875.
Shepard finished her day with a 9.825 on beam during the Pack's final rotation, securing a run of four-straight meets with only scores of 9.800 or higher. Aside from that, Shepard completed a spurt of seven-straight routines with scores of 9.9+ that began with the Wolfpack's third rotation on Feb. 11 and ended after her 9.950 on bars on Sunday.
Shepard and the rest of the Pack return to action on Saturday, Mar. 2 for its penultimate home meet. No. 21 NC State will host Iowa State, Northern Illinois, and Temple in Reynolds Coliseum, with the opening rotation slated for 4 p.m. and the contest streamed on the ACC Network Extra.
