ATLANTA – Wolfpack women's basketball head coach Wes Moore has been named to the late season watch list for the 2024 Werner Ladder Naismith Women's College Coach of the Year.
Moore is a previous four-time finalist for the award (2014, 2019, 2021, 2022) and was also a semifinalist in 2017 and 2020.
Currently in the midst of the 11th season of his tenure at NC State, Moore has guided his squad to a 23-3 (11-3 ACC) record with four games remaining in the regular season. Six of NC State's wins have been against AP Top 25 teams, which ties as the national lead for ranked victories this year.
Moore's Wolfpack squad that was picked to finish eighth in the ACC has maintained its spot in the league's top four over the last few weeks of the season.
NC State has spent 14 straight weeks in the AP Top 25 after entering the season unranked. The Wolfpack is the first women's basketball team to begin a season unranked and reach the AP Top 5 before the end of that November, and NC State spent multiple weeks ranked as high as No. 3 in the nation.
On the individual level, NC State's five returners have all increased their scoring averages from last season by at least 3.5 points, and all five players are averaging at least 10 points per game in 2023-24. The Pack has also secured back-to-back top-10 signing classes (Class of 2023, Class of 2024)
Moore has compiled a 265-84 (.759) overall record and a 126-52 (.708) ACC clip while serving as the leader of the Pack. He owns 823 career wins, which ranks fifth among active NCAA Division I women's basketball coaches and 14th all time. While at NC State, Moore has achieved 10 20+ win seasons, including nine straight.
The list released Wednesday will be narrowed down to 10 semifinalists on March 14 and four finalists on March 25. The winner will be announced on April 3.
