WASHINGTON, D.C. - NC State Football has accepted an invitation to play in the Go Bowling Military Bowl in Annapolis, Md., against East Carolina of the AAC. The game will be played on Dec. 28 at 5:45 pm in Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and will be broadcast on ESPN.
Â
This is NC State's 36th bowl qualification (17-17-1) and its 35th bowl game played. It is the Wolfpack's 10th in head coach Dave Doeren's 12 seasons at NC State. It will mark the second time the Wolfpack has played in Navy's home stadium, as the Pack defeated the Midshipmen, 65-19, in a 2002 road game.
Â
"We are excited to be headed to the Military Bowl and to compete in an event that benefits our nation's current and former service members," said Doeren. "We appreciate the Military Bowl Foundation for inviting us and are looking forward to a great game.'
Â
NC State has faced East Carolina, a team located just 83 miles down Highway 264, 32 times in a series that dates back to 1970 and holds the overall series lead, 19-13. The two squads have met once before in a bowl game, losing the 1992 Peach Bowl 34-37 to the Pirates. The Wolfpack has won the last three meetings between the two squads, winning, in Carter-Finley Stadium in 2018 and '19 (outscoring the Pirates 92-9 in those two contests) and eking out a one-point win to open the 2022 season in Greenville.
Â
The Wolfpack finished the season on a high note, earning bowl eligibility with an exciting win at UNC - its fourth consecutive against the Tar Heels.Â
Â
