
Pack Sprints Past Rider, 89-63

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men's basketball team closed the non-conference portion of its schedule with a decisive 89-63 win over Rider on Sunday afternoon inside the Lenovo Center.
NC State shot 55.8 percent for the game, including 65.2 percent in the first half, as the Pack took a 52-23 lead into the halftime break.
NC State broke open the game with a 23-2 run midway through the first half, turning a 12-9 advantage into a 35-11 lead with 5:19 left in the opening period.
Rider never got closer than 22 the rest of the way.
Thirteen of the 14 players for NC State scored in the game led by Jayden Taylor with a team-best 16 points. Ben Middlebrooks (12), Breon Pass (12) and Marcus Hill (11) also reached double figures for NC State while Brandon Huntley-Hatfield finished with nine points and Michael O'Connell and Dennis Parker, Jr., each had eight.
NC State finished the game with 21 assists on 29 made field goals. Hill passed out a season-high six assists while O'Connell had five assists and zero turnovers.
NC State's bench finished with 40 points, its second-highest output of the season.
The Pack enters the holiday break with an 8-4 record. NC State is back in action on New Year's Eve when it plays at Virginia. Tipoff against the Cavaliers is at noon and the game will be televised on ESPN2.
