No. 8 Wrestling Dominates Battle at The Citadel Tournament in Season Opener

Charleston, S.C. – Eighth-ranked NC State wrestling boasted five champions and eight total placers at the Battle at The Citadel on Sunday afternoon to open its 2024-25 slate.
Wolfpack Wrestling sent 21 total members of its team to compete in the Battle at The Citadel tournament hosted by The Citadel.
125 - Jackson Baglio (R-Fr.), Louie Gill (Fr.), Vince Robinson (R-Fr.), Brad Yokum (Fr.)
133 - Jacob Cox (R-So.), Troy Hohman (R-So.), Draegen Orine (Fr.)141 - Kai Orine (R-Sr.), Jaydon Robinson (Fr.)
149 - Koy Buesgens (R-Fr.), Eric Grant (Fr.), Tyler Tracy (R-Fr.)
157 - Luca Felix (Fr.), Pete Winterstein (Fr.)
165 - Luke Ahrberg (R-Jr.), Derek Fields (R-Jr.), Latrell Schafer (Fr.)
184 - Rylan Breen (Fr.)
197 - Chase Horne (R-So.), Christian Knop (R-Sr.), Andrew Macchiavello (R-So.)
Heavyweight, Owen Trephan, also competed in the tournament unattached and won his bracket, all with bonus point wins. He collected three technical falls and one fall across his four matches.
Five guys earned the individual title - Vince Robinson (125), Draegen Orine (133), Kai Orine (141), Derek Fields (165), and Christian Knop (197). While three more were found on the podium as well - Troy Hohman 2nd (133), Jaydon Robinson 2nd (141), and Koy Buesgens 3rd (149).
Down to the last bouts of their brackets, numerous members of the Pack had to face their teammates in order to determine their finish.
The new class of freshmen had a strong showing. In their collegiate debuts, Gill, Orine, and Robinson each had bonus point wins - Gill and Orine with technical falls and Robinson with a fall.
Fields and Knop picked up their first ranked wins of the season in their finals matches. 22nd-ranked Fields defeated George Mason's No. 25 Evan Maag by a 14-9 score and 27th-ranked Knop pinned The Citadel's #28 Patrick Brophy.

NC State travels to Pennsylvania this upcoming weekend for Journeymen's WrangleMania on Saturday, November 9th and Collegiate Classic on Sunday, November 10th. Saturday will consist of a neutral dual-match with Campbell at Liberty High School in Bethlehem, Pa. Sunday is an individual round-robin tournament with 23 participating schools at Freedom High School, also in Bethlehem, Pa.
