Broadfoot, Zampardo Win Opening Round Match at NCAA Doubles Championship

WACO, Texas – Gabriella Broadfoot and Maddy Zampardo of the NC State women's tennis team came back from behind to defeat Tulsa's Maria Berlanga and Lily Hutchings, 6-2, 1-6, 1-0 (10-5). The duo has advanced to the round of 16, and will play UNC's Theadora Rabman and Tatum Evans on Thursday.

In the first set, both sides stayed toe-to-toe until Tulsa pulled the 6-2 first-set win. Things were much different in the second set, as Broadfoot and Zampardo dominated, 6-1, to force the tiebreaker. The tiebreaker was decided by the first to 10, and NC State handled business with the 10-5 advantage.

The doubles pair improves to 13-2 on the season.
