Women’s Golf Set for Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The NC State women's golf team is set to play in the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational, hosted by North Carolina, from Friday, Oct. 11 to Sunday, Oct. 13. The tournament will be played at Finley Golf Club, marking the first women's tournament played at the course since it reopened last October.
Finley Golf Club is a par-70, 6,081-yard course. Friday and Saturday's rounds will begin at 8:30 a.m. and Sunday's round has a shotgun start of 9:30 a.m. NC State will tee off on Friday from hole 10 at 8:30 a.m. The field consists of 17 teams, including five other ACC squads.
Marie Eline Madsen is coming off leading the Pack in her first two collegiate tournaments with back-to-back sixth place showings, including at the Cavalier Regional Preview with a 1-under 212 (71-67-74). She leads NC State with a 70.33 scoring average and four rounds at par or better.
Lauren Olivares Leon is No. 2 in the lineup. She tied for 50th at the Cavalier Regional Preview and opened her senior season at the Cougar Classic with a 1-under 212 (70-72-70) to tie for 11th. Olivares Leon is second on the team in scoring average at 74.00, while sporting a 72.77 career scoring average.
Ellise Rymer is back in the lineup and in the No. 3 slot. She is coming off her first tournament of the season, having logged an 11-over 224 (77-71-76) to tie for 30th at the Cavalier Regional Preview.
Vania Simont is in her third appearance in as many tournaments, logging a 74.83 scoring average. The junior is coming off tying for 22nd with an 8-over 221 (73-71-77) at the Cavalier Regional Preview.
Caitlin Whitehead rounds out the lineup, set to play in her second straight appearance. She carded a 12-over 225 (73-72-80) to tie for 34th at the Cavalier Regional Preview, which tied the best finish of her NC State career.
The Pack will also bring Jaclyn Kenzel, who is competing as an individual. She played in the lineup at the Cougar Classic.
