Berkoff and Stokowski Bring Home ACC Weekly Honors

Raleigh, N.C. – For the second straight week, the Wolfpack has brought home ACC Swimmer of the Week honors, sweeping the swimming awards with Katharine Berkoff taking home ACC Women's Swimmer of the Week and Kacper Stokowski winning Men's Swimmer of the Week the conference announced on Tuesday.
The win gives Stokowski his second Swimmer of the Week Award after being named last week's winner. The Wolfpack have won five ACC Swimmer of the Week awards this season.
On Friday, Berkoff had the strongest performance for the No. 8 Wolfpack women in their dual meet against No. 2 Texas. She led the way with two first-place finishes, two second-place finishes, and a pool record. Swimming a 49.82 in the women's 100 back the Missoula, Montana, native swam the second-fastest time in history to win the event. It sets a season-best mark and qualifies for NCAA A cut time. Her time sits behind only Virginia's Gretchen Walsh. Berkoff joins Walsh as the only swimmers under the 50-second mark in the event. Anchoring the Wolfpack's 400 freestyle relay, she helped NC State to a first-place finish and swam on the team's 200 medley and freestyle relays, earning second-place finishes in both.
Stokowski helped guide the No. 3 Wolfpack to victory over No. 9 Texas with a first and second-place finish, pool records, and both a season and personal best. Stokowski set a personal best in the 200 free with a time of 1:32.91, which puts him in the top 10 in Wolfpack history in the event and marked an NCAA B cut time. In the 50 back, the Warsaw, Poland, native set a season-best of 21.54, followed by a first-place finish and another season-best in the 100 back with a time of 44.37. The time was a pool record and qualified as an NCAA A cut time.
Stokowski and Berkoff are now preparing for senior day on Friday, Feb. 2, as the Wolfpack hosts UNC Wilmington in their final season home meet at 5 p.m.
