Negrete Named Program's First ACC Gymnast of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Chloe Negrete was announced as ACC Gymnast of the Week on Monday afternoon after her performance in NC State's win over North Carolina on Friday night.
Negrete, who was ACC Specialist of the Week after the Pack's season opener at Georgia, now marks the first Wolfpack gymnast in history to claim ACC Gymnast of the Week honors.
Negrete competed in three events for the Wolfpack, claiming individual champion honors on vault and floor in the Pack's dual meet against the Tar Heels.
On vault, Negrete anchored with a 9.875 to secure a first-place finish in the event, while on floor she posted a new season-high mark of 9.925, which also marked the Pack's best single-routine score of the season. Negrete's vault and floor totals were enough to land her third and fourth podium finish of the year, all of which have resulted in a first-place finish.
Negrete additionally anchored on beam, firing a 9.800 to contribute to the Pack's highest beam score of the season.
The Wolfpack's 196.225 at North Carolina marked its highest team score of the season, while NC State's team totals on bars, beam, and floor were its best of the year as well.
The Pack will open its five-meet home slate on Friday, Jan. 26, as NC State will host Pitt at 7 p.m. in Reynolds Coliseum. The first of two matchups between the Wolfpack and Panthers this season, the meet will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra through the WatchESPN app.
